On the 3rd February it was the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) coffee morning today. At this event Ascot Care’s founding director Marlene Riecker was given the opportunity to give a talk on Dementia. The focus was how to better understand dementia and also how to become Dementia Friends. Dementia is becoming a growing problem for many elderly people. By being able to understand more about dementia we can provide better care for people who have the condition.

After the talk 11 people signed up to become dementia friends, which will help towards making West Sussex a more dementia friendly place.

If you would like to find out more about dementia you can contact Marlene on this email address: marlene.riecker@ascotcare.com.

Also if you know anyone who has dementia who would like additional help you can contact the Ascot Care office and we can arrange a suitable care package.

Congratulations to  our founding director Marlene who is now a Dementia Champion.

Dementia Friends is a social action movement that aims to increase the understanding of Dementia and inspire people to take action to support people affected by Dementia. Dementia is becoming a bigger issue for many elderly people in the UK. By increasing our  understanding of the condition it will put us in a better position to be able to care for people that have dementia. It is estimated that there are now 850,000 people with dementia in the UK and care agencies must find ways to be able to keep up with the growing number of people needing help with the condition.

At Ascot care we put special emphasis on our dementia training. This means that all of our care workers have understanding of the condition. Ascot Care work with many people who are affected by dementia, we have found that the dementia training has gone a long way in advancing peoples understanding of the condition. Initiatives like dementia friends are really helpful in raising awareness and educating people on dementia.

If you know someone with dementia who would like some support please contact us.
